Aquaporins and the regulation of amniotic fluid circulation

Objective:
The purpose of this study was to focuse on aquaporins and their role in the regulation of amniotic fluid circulation.

Design:
Review.

Setting:
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Medical Faculty Charles University Hradec Kralove.

Methods:
The summary about aquaporins which were first described as channels increased permeability of lipid membranes to water in response to osmotic and/or hydrostatic gradients.

Conclusion:
The present review summarizes the results of clinical and experimental research on aquaporins and the regulation of amniotic fluid circulation.
